Government Regulation

Check out this JSOnline article.  Aside from the soap-opera-esque storyline, it’s about an external entity forcing restrictions on an organization resulting in the organization running less efficiently.  I can’t help but notice the irony in that it is a government agency feeling the weight of excessive “regulation” of its day to day activities.

The last section also has several gems in it:

According to the state Corrections Department, Sago is on probation until early next year after being convicted of the misdemeanor battery of another woman in 2007.

A union leader, Capadona has pushed the interest of union members, records show.

She also has filed personal complaints over not being given a work area near a window, microwaves she uses being placed too high, whether automatic restroom doors for the handicapped stayed open too long, and how paychecks are distributed.

Perhaps folks should keep stories like this in mind when it comes to considering how large a role government should play in their lives.
