Some Republicans do not mean what they say; some politicians waffle at the moment of truth.

But State Senate Candidate Leah Vukmir will not. She has lead the fight for school choice. As a nurse, she fought against government take-overs of healthcare at the state and federal levels. And she stood tall against Governor Doyle’s terrible tax increases and “house of cards” budgeting.

Leah Vukmir is current Assemblywoman and is running for State Senate for Elm Grove, Wauwatosa, West Allis, West Milwaukee, Brookfield, and parts of Milwaukee.

WPRI has done extensive polling about what is holding Wisconsin back and about a new agenda to get the state’s economy back on track. As a CYP member, you’re invited to attend the unveiling of this new agenda on Thursday, September 23rd.

This is the unveiling of a massive new project from WPRI. The leaders of the state’s conservative movement will be there; you’ll be hearing quite a bit about this in the coming months as we try to turn this state’s economy around.

CYP Volunteer Activity: September 25th

My Starving Children is a charity that sends meals to poor children around the world. They need people to spend just two hours putting these meals together (they will train you, but this is a very simple exercise).

A group of CYPers, led by Amanda Balistreri, will work a two hour shift at Concordia University (Saturday, 2:30-4:30). Afterwards, we’ll probably get drinks.

Please consider helping out–this is a very easy way to help others who need it.

Election Day and CYP Happy Hour

On November 2nd, fiscal conservatives are going to take back the state and the federal government and get the economy moving again.

After you vote (Check here for where to vote (based on where you live)), join us in watching the election results. This is going to be a fun election day!

CYP is proud to host Henry Tyson. Mr. Tyson leads St. Marcus School, a private choice school where poor and minority children are acheiving remarkable gains. Every day, Mr. Tyson is proving conservatives correct–that when minority and poor children are given choices and held to a high standard, they will choose to be accountable and they will succeed. The school choice program in Milwaukee is under political assault, while at the same time, it holds enormous opportunity to solve Milwaukee’s ills.

Location: Cudahy Sportsman’s Club

Time: 1:00-5:00 (first come, first served)

Cost: $15 for 24 shots

For the second year, CYP will test our 2nd amendment freedoms (and your aiming ability) at the Cudahy Sportman’s Club. Enjoy the view out over Lake Michigan and take your round of trap.

For this event, we would like to have a few instructors who would be willing to teach newbies how to shoot and a few people who would be willing to lend a shotgun to allow them to do so. If you can help, please e-mail Jason at jason.kohout@gmail.com See you there.

Signup for the August 8 golf outing at Ironwood Golf Course in Sussex is now open. For just $15, you’ll get to play nine holes (with cart) at one of the area’s best-maintained courses. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with fellow conservatives and be eligible to win prizes.

CYP will be having a nine-hole golf outing at Ironwood Golf Course on the afternoon of Sunday, August 8. This event will be a great opportunity to golf with your fellow conservatives and get a great deal while doing so; cost is estimated to be about $25 for the round and a cart.

Ed Howe founded Aurora Healthcare in 1984 and has grown the system into the state’s largest private health system, with 16 hospitals, 650 physicians, 100 clinics, 120 community pharmacies and other services. As a former healthcare system CEO, Mr. Howe has a great many insights into the effects of the new healthcare reform law as well as other, more “free-market” ideas for reform.
